Vijay is a Hero Who Understands the Pulse of the Common Man" - Raja

Alot is riding on Vijay’s next big release Velayudham, which is being directed by M Raja and produced by Aascar Ravichandran. With the actor’s Kaavalan turning out to be a hit, Vijay needs an even bigger hit to hold on to the top position. The entire industry is eagerly awaiting Velayudham, which will be his first release after he and his father supported Jayalalithaa in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
A leading distributor in Coimbatore says, “A lot is riding on this film for the actor. The trade will take a call on the marketing of the film only after the Assembly election results are out.” Meanwhile, the producers have already started promoting the film as one of the biggest of the year as they say it will be Vijay’s costliest film. The release of Velayudham, which is almost complete, will depend a lot on who comes to power in Tamil Nadu.

The mass entertainer stars Vijay, Genelia, Hansika and Saranya Mohan in pivotal roles, with Santhanam, M S Baskar, Sathyan, Pandirajan and Sayaji Shinde also being part of the cast. Vijay is said to be doing a typical ‘Rajinikanth Annamalai’ type character, playing a milkman who metamorphoses into a larger-thanlife person who hunts down the baddies with the help of an investigative television reporter (Genelia). The buzz is that there will be a lot of punch dialogues in the film, in a bid to hit out at his detractors.

Talking exclusively to CT, director M Raja says, “Velayudham will be a non-stop rollicking mass movie with all commercial ingredients packaged to provide maximum entertainment. Eighty five per cent of the film is complete. The producer, Ravichandran, has spent lavishly on it to make it rich. For one particular song, we have spent nearly two crore. Two more songs remain to be shot, which will be done in Europe.”
Raja adds that there are 15 villains and 30 comedians in the film, which will have five songs and six choreographed action scenes. Says Raja, “The heart of Velayudham is its story, which has a lot of human emotions that will click with the mass audiences. Vijay’s love for his sister, played by Saranya Mohan, is the pivot around which the film revolves. Genelia plays a journalist while Hansika is his lady love. The comedy scenes featuring Santhanam, M S Bhaskar and Vijay made the entire unit laugh; so you can imagine how it will work with the mass audiences! Vijay Antony has come out with some peppy mass songs that will surely become chartbusters.”
Velayudham, he feels, will be a landmark film for Ilayathalapathy. Adds Raja, “Vijay is a total mass hero who understands the pulse of the common man. He is a complete professional and never interferes with filmmaking.”

Rumormongers in Kollywood say that Ponniyin Selvan may be dropped. Though the reason for this is not out, the rumors are getting strong day by day. At a stage when all the actors and actresses were said to be finalized, this comes as surprise to many. Also director Mani Ratnam went on a tour recently to scout for locations to shoot this trilingual.

Vijay and Mahesh Babu were roped in to play the male leads while Anushka and Priyanka Chopra were touted to be their onscreen pairs, it may be recalled.

Sources close to the director say that Ponniyin Selvan may be postponed and that the director has already conveyed this message to Mahesh Babu. Let’s wait for an official announcement on this project.

Producer Aascar Ravichandran and Director Jeyam Raja are making every effort to release Vijay's highly-anticipated flick Velayutham on his birthday, which falls on June 22. The mass entertainer, which stars Vijay, Hansika and Genelia, is 80 percent complete and the word around town is that the songs and action sequences have turned out astonishingly well. Vijay plays a milkman, while Saranya Mohan appears in a bubbly role as Vijay's sister. Genelia will be seen as an investigative journalist and Hasnika will portray a village belle.

A sensuous song, composed by Vijay Antony was recently picturised on Hansika and Vijay in the city. Those present on the sets were raving about the sizzling chemistry between Vijay and Hansika during the shoot. There are some intimate scenes in the song, where the actress, clad in a glamorous outfits, was grooving with the Kaavalan star, said a unit hand who watched the sequence being shot. In the meantime, Vijay has flown to the Andamans for his upcoming flick Nanban.

Ilayathalapathy’s fans are fuming

Ever since Vijay’s house was attacked a few days ago, his fans are livid with rage.

And this rage crossed all limits when the police probing the attack closed the investigation stating that it is was an act done by drunkards and have no political colors to it.

Though the Ilayathalapathy is not living in this house anymore, as he had rented it out to musician Vijay Anthony, his fans are irate because they feel that their idol is in danger. Following this attack, Vijay fans have decided to hold protests in each district to show their dissatisfaction. The first protest began in Coimbatore yesterday with fans shouting slogans in support of the Ilayathalapathy.

சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த் பால்காரராக நடித்து சூப்பர் ஹிட் ஆன படம் அண்ணாமலை. இதுபோன்ற வேடத்தில் வேலாயுதம் படத்தில் விஜய் நடித்து வருகிறாராம்.

Almost every alternative day there is news about the latest happenings of Nanban. Recently the shooting was held at Ampa Skywalk mall where Vijay and Ileana were spotted.

Director Shankar has shot few scenes on the lead pair. For one particular scene Vijay has taken 3 takes while Ileana has took nearly seven takes which has given some tension to director Shankar. The unit now moved to Andaman Islands and it is heard that the climax Shoot is progressing in a rapid pace. Though the film is the remake of Bollywood blockbuster hit 3 Idiots but Shankar has made enough changes to the script to match up the Tamil flavor.

Vijay to start Pagalavan

llayathapathy Vijay is all set to go ahead with director Seeman’s project Pagalavan. Recently Seeman has completed the script work of Pagalavan and have narrated the scenes and dialogues to Vijay. Vijay who was impressed with the script asked Seeman to start Pagalavan immediately.

Vijay’s mass hero image will be enhanced by several levels with Pagalavan as the character designed by Seeman is never before seen one in Vijay’s career. Vijay will be mouthing scorching dialogues that will set fire. The film is getting delayed as the production house is not yet finalized. Initially its producer Kalaipuli Thanu who paid the advance amount to Seeman but if we go according to Vijay’s prior commitment Pagalavan should go to Super Good Films.

Vijay is keen in starting the project immediately as soon as the elections get wrapped up. Talks regarding the production house are going on and a friendly settlement is expected to take place very soon.

Mani Ratnam intends to make Ponniyin Selvan in three languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Since this film requires a huge star cast, Mani is planning to cast at least one popular face from each film industry, sources report. While for the Tamil version it will be Vijay, for Telugu it is Mahesh Babu.

Having offered the two important male lead roles to the most popular stars in the Tamil and Telugu film industry, sources say that the director feels that Priyanka Chopra would be the apt choice to appease the Bollywood audiences. She will play Mahesh Babu’s on screen pair in this film while Anushka will be Vijay’s jodi.
