1) Vijay fans are waiting eagerly for Velayutham. Many of them have ordered fire crackers and waiting eagerly to do the first day milk pooja for Vijay. What can you say for them?

2) What is your opinion about making a film with Vijay?

Before 2 years, I met Vijay. He just asked me openly that, "You are always making films with your own brother and giving super hits. Won't you do a film with me?". I was so delighted to hear those words from his mouth and I narrated the story of Velayutham, in which the way i wanted to see Vijay in the silver screen as. At that time there was no political buzz surrounded Vijay.

3) Is there any dialouges in Velayutham to show Vijay as a politician?

In talking about Vijay movies, his fans always go to the theater to see their star's face in the silver screen only. If Vijay is with 500 fans in a spot, He will always pay attention to his fans and love to take photographs with all of them patiently. In Velayutham there is a dialogue, where Vijay says 'En Rasigargalukku onnu na naan aayutham ah maariduven".

4) Who is more responsible for a film's failure? Is it the story of the film or the hero?

The story is the first reason. Then comes the producer of the film. In my opinion, a brave director means, a person who fixes the hero in mind, for whom he is writing the script and makes a perfect story that suits him.

5) Did Velayutham gave the confidence that, it will break all the expectations while producing itself?

There are producers like Aascar Ravichandran, who won't even think about backing off or be scared to invest money to produce a big sum film like Velayutham for a mass hero like Vijay, who has a huge fan base

Vijay fans expectations cross Velayutham

We all know that the expectation for Velayutham is much more than what it was earlier. But the Ilayathalapathy fans’ expectations are now crossing beyond Velayutham. What is it? With the local elections round the corner, his fans are hoping that the star and his dad SA Chandrasekar would arrange to get them some seats to contest in the polls.

With Vijay enjoying a good rapport with the Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha, it could turn out to be a possibility

Within minutes of reaching the market, the audio of Velayudham recorded an unprecedented sell-out. More than a lakh CDs on the first day of release is an incredible figure, and naturally I'm curious about the reaction of the man behind the music — Vijay Antony. Particularly because Antony is one music director who doesn't mince words when he says he's had no formal training in the art. “I don't know how I do it,” is all he has to say when queried about his creative skill!

Success is on a fast track for this composer-lyricist-singer-t

urning-actor. After a spate of hits, the response to his songs for Velayudham has touched a new high! He laughs, “I work for every film with the same amount of diligence. But here it is also the draw of the hero that's working magic for my music.”

At the launch of the album in Madurai, Vijay, the leading man of Velayudham , proved for the nth time that he's a veritable crowd-puller. And when he announced that each Vijay Antony number should be a rollicking hit, the audience cheered in assent. Vijay then went on to sing a couple of lines of ‘Sonna Puriyaadhu' from the new album, and the people went delirious with joy. “Vijay loved the songs. The 20-minute teaser we had circulated on the net also helped,” says Antony.

Director Raja, Vijay and Vijay Antony as a team, is new. “I can't thank Raja enough. I just gave him one tune for each lyric. He liked them all,” smiles Antony. Generally, directors listen to several options before they zero in on one. “As a composer, I only give directors tunes I'm happy with. I was thrilled to see our tastes converge at the same point.” But among the songs, the melody of ‘Mulachu Moonu' is the most mesmerising. Viveka's verses for the number are equally splendid.

Antony has this practice of plumping for new voices and lyricists. All aspiring singers have to do is mail their voices to v ijayantonymusic@gmail.com “I get back to them if I find the timbre impressive. I don't accept CDs. The ‘Mulachu Moonu' you tell me about has been sung by Supriya Joshi from Mumbai. She sent a demo by mail and I asked her to come down for the recording,” he says.

This composer is himself a singer, and invariably the songs turn out to be chartbusters. The most recent is ‘Oh my Angel,' a favourite on FM. Now, two of Velayudham 's songs are in Antony's voice. “It isn't planned. Once a composition is complete I sing the track and send it to the director. He sometimes suggests I record them in my voice, and I go ahead.”

Composing a tune, giving it to the lyricist and getting the words for it, is the norm. Very rarely it works the other way too, with the words coming first, and the composer lending a tune to them. Vijay Antony always prefers the latter. “I interact a lot with the lyric writer. His diligence and the concept are primary. Then the rest fall in place,” he reasons. Probably it is this rapport that has made Annamalai, the wordsmith of Antony hits such as ‘En Uchi Mandaiyila' and ‘Benares Pattu Katti,' pen a couple of songs for Velayudham . “He's talented and we vibe well,” says Antony.

Mention Vijay Antony and the strange words in his refrains are bound to come to mind — ‘Naaku Mooka,' ‘Aathi Choodi' … You now hear it in the Velayudham piece — ‘Chillax' (!) begins the number. Is it a cultivated Vijay Antony stamp? Antony disagrees. “I intend relegating such rigmarole to the background for a while because my melodies get buried in the bargain. All the same, on the very day of the audio release everyone in the crowd screamed ‘Chillax.' So the draw of such usages is obvious,” he grins.

He must be tracking his listeners' choices to know their pulse so well. “Of course, social networking is essential. The feedback helps me grow. And it's a real stress buster. When I knew that without my knowledge responses were being circulated on websites in my name, I decided to plunge into it myself. Now www.facebook.com/vijayantonyinfo. is my fan page. My updates are lapped up in a jiffy and I'm thrilled. I'm active on Twitter too. So in no time I could gauge that Velayudham music had caught on!”

Vijay to shoot in Srinagar

Ilayathalapathy Vijay will shake his legs in the backdrop of picturesque locales of Srinagar for 'Velayudham', as the only one song which is left to be shot will be canned in the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir.

Select members of the cast and crew of 'Velayudham' will leave for Srinagar on September 17 to shoot the number 'Molachu moonu ilai vidala...'  They will be back within a week, sources in the know tell us.

What is more interesting about this particular song is that it would have both the heroines of the film - Genelia D'Souza and Hansika Motwani - sharing screen space with Vijay. It will be choreographed by a popular dance master.

Meanwhile, director 'Jayam' Raja is upbeat about the movie's prospects in the box-office. "Velayudham will be tailor-made for the fans of Vijay. How an ordinary man becomes a super hero is the one-line that can best describe the story," he says

விஜய், ஹன்சிகா, ஜெனிலியா மற்றும் பலர் நடிப்பில் பிரம்மாண்டமாக தயாராகி வரும் படம் ‘வேலாயுதம்’. இப்படத்தினை ஜெயம் ராஜா இயக்க, விஜய் ஆண்டனி இசையமைக்கிறார். ஆஸ்கார் ரவிச்சந்திரன் தயாரித்து வருகிறார்.
இப்படம் குறித்து ஜெயம் ராஜா ” விஜய் சார் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் குடும்பத்தினருக்கும் பிடித்தவர். என் பாதையும் அதுதான். குழந்தைகள் மற்றும் குடும்பதினரை நோக்கியே என் படமும் இருக்கும். இந்த ஒத்த சிந்தனையால் எங்களுக்குள் கண்ணுக்கு தெரியாத இணக்கமும் நெருக்கமும் இறுக்கமும் வந்து விட்டன.

‘வேலாயுதம்’ தீபாவளிக்கு வருகிறது. விஜய் ரசிகர்களுக்கு மட்டுமல்ல அனைவருக்கும் கொண்டாட்டமான ஒரு படமாக இருக்கும். ஹீரோயிசத்தை சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்தி வெளிப்படுத்தியிருக்கும் படமாக இது இருக்கும்.
ஜெனிலியா, ஹன்சிகா என இரு நாயகிகளுக்குமே என்மேல் கடைசி வரை ஒரு சந்தேகம் இருந்தது. படத்தில் யாருக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் என்கிற சந்தேகம் அது. படத்தில் இருவருக்கும் சமவாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறது. படம் வெளியான பிறகு வகையில் இருவரும் பேசப்படுவார்கள்.
நட்சத்திரங்களின் ஒத்துழைப்பைப் போல தொழில் நுட்ப கலைஞர்களும் ஈடுபாட்டுடன் உழைத்து இருக்கிறார்கள்.இசையமைப்பாளர் விஜய் ஆண்டனி ‘வேட்டைக்காரன்’ பாடல்களைத் தாண்டி பேசப்பட வேண்டும் என்று கடுமையாக பாடுபட்டார். அதனால் தான் அவர் போட்டுக் காட்டிய 6 மெட்டுகளும் முதல் முறையிலேயே பிடித்துப் போய் பாடலாயின. அதனால்தான் ஆடியோ விற்பனையிலும் ‘வேலாயுதம்’ சாதனை படைத்தது.
தயாரிப்பாளர் ரவிசார் பற்றி சொல்ல வேண்டியதில்லை. படம் நன்றாக வர அவர் ஆகாயம் வரை மேலே போவார். பாதாளம் தாண்டியும் கீழே செல்பவர். ஒரு காட்சிக்கும் ஒரு லட்சம் பேர் தேவைப்பட்டது. ஏன் எதற்கு என்று கேட்கவில்லைல் ஏற்பாடு செய்து விட்டார்.. அதுவும் கேரளாவில்… அசந்து போய் விட்டேன்.
இதுவரை 150 நாட்கள் படப்பிடிப்பு நடந்துள்ளது. பொள்ளாச்சி, சென்னை, கொச்சி, லடாக், ஹைதராபாத், விசாகப்பட்டினம், ஒரிசா போன்ற இடங்களில் படப்பிடிப்பு நடந்துள்ளது. பாக்கியுள்ள ஒரு பாடலுக்காக காஷ்மீர் செல்ல இருக்கிறோம்.

ஜெனிலியாவா-ஹன்சிகாவா? – வோலாயுதம் படப்பிடிப்பில் மோதல்!

விஜய் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்துள்ள ‘வேலாயுதம்’ படத்தில் ஜெனிலியா – ஹன்ஸிகா என இரண்டு நாயகிகள் நடித்துள்ளனர். இந்த இருவருக்கும் யார் பெரிய நட்சத்திரம், யாருக்கு படத்தில் முக்கியத்துவம் என்ற மோதல் எழுந்தததாம்.

பின்னர் ஒருவழியாக இந்த மோதலைத் தீர்த்து வைத்தார்களாம்.

வேலாயுதம் படப்பிடிப்பு முடிந்துவிட்டதால், படத்தின் விளம்பரப் பணிகளை முடுக்கிவிட்டுள்ளனர். படத்தின் சிறப்புகள் குறித்து இயக்குநர் ராஜா பேட்டியளித்து வருகிறார்.

படத்தின் இரு ஹீரோயின்களின் ஈகோ போட்டி குறித்து இயக்குநர் ராஜா கூறுகையில், “ஜெனிலியாவுக்கும், ஹன்சிகாவுக்கும் இடையே யார் பெரியவர்? என்ற ‘ஈகோ’ மனப்பான்மை இருந்தது உண்மைதான். ஆனால், அதை இருவரும் வெளியில் காட்டிக்கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள். நேரில் பார்த்தால் சிரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.

உள்ளுக்குள் போட்டி மனப்பான்மையை வைத்துக்கொண்டு, வெளியில் சினேகிதிகள் போல் நடிப்பார்கள். பொதுவாக 2 கதாநாயகிகள் சேர்ந்து நடிக்கும்போது இப்படிப்பட்ட சூழ்நிலைகள் உருவாவது இயல்புதான்.

ஜெனிலியா, ஹன்சிகா இருவரும் மும்பையை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் என்பதால், இருவருக்கும் இடையே போட்டி கொஞ்சம் அதிகமாகவே இருந்தது. ஆனால், பிரச்சினை எதுவும் இல்லை.

படத்தில் இரண்டு பேருக்குமே சமமான வாய்ப்புகள் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. அதனால், படப்பிடிப்புக்கு எந்த பாதிப்பும் இல்லாமல் சுமூகமாக நடந்தது. உச்சக்கட்ட காட்சியை கேரள மாநிலம் கொச்சியில் 15 நாட்கள் நடத்தினோம்.

ரஜினிக்கு பாட்ஷா போல…

புரட்சித் தலைவர் எம்.ஜி.ஆருக்கு ‘எங்க வீட்டு பிள்ளை’ போல், சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்துக்கு ‘பாட்ஷா’வைப்போல், கமல்ஹாசனுக்கு ‘தசாவதாரம்’ போல், விஜய்க்கு `வேலாயுதம்’ படம் அமையும்,” என்றார் ராஜா.
