In a span of few years, Priyanka Chopra, a former Miss World, shot to fame with blockbuster films and turned into a vivacious diva. Dressed in a simple white shirt and denims, she talks excitedly about her fondness for Chennai and the Kollywood industry!
For a Bollywood star, her connection with Kollywood and this city goes deeper than one would have thought. Talking about her connection with K-town and Chennai, she says, “My first movie was with Vijay and so definitely, I have a soft corner for him! The memories of my first film are evergreen. I’d love to act with him again, given a chance.”
She adds, “The Superstar is definitely a dream star to work with and I also like Suriya!”
The actress finds Kollywood extremely entertaining, thanks to the peppy dances and typical fight sequences. “I can never imagine dancing like some of the south Indian actors — they’re so good! I enjoy watching the fight sequences in Tamil films.”
Considering that she last acted in Tamizhan, which was also her debut film, what about future ventures in Tamil? “Language will never be a barrier in choosing a film. But the script must impress me,” she says.
“The first thing I did when I landed here was indulge in some yummy fish curry — I love the spicy south Indian curry and since my maami’s family stays in Chennai, every time I visit them here, I get to enjoy a homely feeling!”
The Don 2 star, who is known to be a fashion icon, reveals a secret here — ask her about her biggest indulgence and she asks, “Do you mean materialistic indulgence? Then I must say I hate shopping for myself. I am known as Santa Claus at home and amongst my close friends because I love buying stuff for others rather than for myself. I love it when others shop for me! It’s tedious going from one store to another just to select stuff for myself!”
Considering she’s a fan of the game and was in the city to watch the Champions League finals, ask her about her favourite cricketer and she quips, “I used to have a crush on Rahul Dravid for the longest time! I also think Gautam Gambhir is a great cricketer!”
News about her pop album has been doing the rounds for some time now and she confirms that she’s going to be working on the debut album soon. “I can’t reveal too much about it now. But I will be going to Los Angeles in four days to work on some of the tracks,” she signs off
